Gareth Frow was instructed by a local authority on a 15-day fact-finding involving serious allegations of sexual abuse to a child. The case also involved a complex history of cross-familial dynamics and further serious allegations of domestic abuse. The expert evidence before the court was equivocal as to causation of the sexual abuse.
Gareth was successful in persuading the court to safely make findings of sexual abuse and identify a pool of potential perpetrators of the same. He also succeeded in obtaining findings of serious domestic abuse. Permission to appeal the findings of sexual abuse would later be refused by the Court of Appeal.
